What was the project?: An environmental graphic design project for Lake Wylie High School to enhance the cafeteria space with bold, school-branded visuals. The goal was to transform a plain, functional area into a more engaging environment that reflects school pride.
Problem: The cafeteria lacked visual identity and energy, missing an opportunity to reflect school spirit and encourage positive behavior in a high-traffic space. There was a need for impactful graphics that could stand up to daily wear while creating a more inspiring atmosphere.
Solution: I created large-scale graphics using the school’s colors, logo, and custom typography to energize the space and promote cleanliness.Designs were tailored for vinyl and PVC application on walls and surfaces, ensuring durability and easy maintenance in a busy cafeteria setting.
Mood Board
This design board showcases the visual identity and interior concept for Lake Wylie High School. It includes font selections (Apparat Black, Poppins Medium), a bold color scheme (blue, yellow, and white), and school values emphasized through key slogans. The design inspiration highlights modern, student-friendly cafeteria and common space ideas with vibrant patterns, textures, and iconography. The goal was to create an engaging, energetic environment that reflects school pride while promoting respect, leadership, and resilience.
Logo Guidelines
Recreated the Lake Wylie High School logo from the original reference and developed a logo guideline. This included refining the primary logo, defining school colors (blue, gold, white), and selecting complementary typefaces for consistent use across all applications. The project ensures a bold, modern look that strengthens school spirit and brand identity.
Elevations
Here is the elevations for the cafeteria, incorporating school branding, motivational messages, and food-inspired illustrations. The cohesive design uses Lake Wylie’s colors and bold typography to create an energetic, welcoming space that reflects school pride. Each wall was thoughtfully planned to balance function with visual impact, from utensil and fruit graphics to large banners and value statements. The result is a unified environment that inspires students daily while reinforcing a strong sense of community.
